Construction of care pathways for alcohol users in medical addiction microstructures

The OFDT presents the results of a survey on professional practices and care pathways for alcohol users within three medical addiction microstructures (MSMA).

The empirical study, the results of which are presented here, was conducted with MSMA professionals (doctors, social workers, psychologists and network coordinators) and patients, in 3 of the 1 432 MSMAs existing in France at the end of 2023.

These microstructures make it possible to offer multi-professional monitoring to people who, in addition to their alcohol consumption, require social support or psychological monitoring. They also support people waiting for more intensive addiction care or to enable local care.

Thanks to their strong adaptation to patient needs, global microstructure care contributes to good acceptance and continuity of care, which undoubtedly constitutes the main benefit of microstructures.
