Annual 2022 results of the composition of psychoactive products circulating in France (SINTES update No. 9)

A total of 623 psychoactive products were collected under the SINTES scheme in 2022, an increase of 18% compared with the previous year.

Cocaine or pink cocaine?

As in 2021, the cocaine concentration stays particularly high. However, it should not be confused with 'pink cocaine', an emerging product that contains psychoactive substances other than cocaine. Collections revealed a recurring combination of MDMA and ketamine. Pink cocaine, first detected by the SINTES system in 2022, is a product in the form of a pink powder that is referred to as "pink powder", "Tuci" (2C) or "Tucibi" (2C-B).

Synthetic products: a wide range, from cannabinoids to stimulants

The collection of vaping liquids adulterated with synthetic cannabinoids from young users remains stable compared with 2021. HHC, a semi-synthetic cannabinoid that is actively monitored and now classified as a narcotic, was detected for the first time in France in 2022 by the SINTES system. Regulatory changes on 3-MMC in the Netherlands have impacted the supply in France, leading to substitutions, particularly with 3-CMC, not notified to the users.
