Comparative analysis of research into illicit drugs across Europe

Within the framework of the ERANID project (European Research Area Network on Illicit Drugs), funded by the European Commission (EC), the OFDT carried out a Europe-wide survey in the six member countries of the consortium (Belgium, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, the United Kingdom) and at the level of the EC.

The analysis serves a threefold purpose:

  1. To enhance knowledge and understanding of drug related research strategies, plans and funding programmes;
  2. To provide a comparative analysis of recent research projects (2010-2013) carried out;
  3. To highlight major strengths or weaknesses of drug-related research with a special focus on human and social sciences.

The results described in this report have fed into a Strategic Research Agenda and contributed to build the call for tender recently launched by the EC and the participating countries.
